Few things in this world are more legit than Luke Egan. His power-footed carves are etched into all of our brains and after decades with Billabong and Electric — and a very credible record in the surf industry — he’s launching his own brand, with partner Bruce Beach. It’s called Depactus and we got our first glimpse of it during the Agenda Show last week.
They’ve immediately picked up Mark Healey, Matt Meola and Ry Craike, who Luke says epitomize the brand’s ethos. They are modern adventurers. Shark-riding, full rotation, big wave, small wave, desert-tube adventuring legends. So we’re psyched. They’re psyched, let’s do this. While running around Agenda, we caught up with Luke and Matt after a whiskey-fueled brainstorm the night before and nursed each other back to health with cold beers and a bit about their new vibe. We like the sound of this.
