Unless you’ve been there to see it in person it’s hard to understand where and how this wave even happens. All along the Off The Wall/Pipe/Ehukai zone different sandbars can form, some better than others obviously as seen in this video. A lot of water moves around the North Shore during different swell angles and the loose flowing sand can build up quickly creating these short-lived moments in between proper North Shore conditions.
Living right there since they were kids, the Florence crew have probably sampled this and similar mutant pits on many occasions and their playful attitude in some rather nasty situations is quite evident. Trust us, it ain’t that easy.
